Dental Veneers
What are Dental Veneers? How would you like to have a perfect, brilliantly white smile, no matter how bad your teeth are stained, or chipped, or how unattractive they may look right now? What if I also told you that this could be done in just a two visits to your dentist, with no major dental work? Sounds too good to be true? Well the good news is, it’s true. You can have a perfect looking, beautifully white smile, in just a few visits to your dentist, by getting dental veneers. Dental veneers are a thin shell of porcelain or a composite, shaped to be perfect replacements of your original teeth, that fit on and are bonded to your natural teeth to make them perfect looking. In just a few visits to your dentist, they can give you what you’ve always heard referred to as a ‘Hollywood Smile’. There was a time when dental veneers were available only to Hollywood actors and actresses. In fact, dental veneers were invented in the1930’s by California dentist, Dr. Charles Pincus, to improve the appearance of movie actors and actresses teeth, which is where the nickname comes from. Veneers have come a long way since the 1930’s. This means easier application, a closer to real life look, and more overall comfort. What is the Process In Getting Veneers? The process of getting veneers is actually fairly simple, and the process is primarily the same for both, with a few major differences which we will outline. It usually takes just two visits to dentist to complete the process for both. The first visit will consist of the initial consultation, any prep work that needs to be done, and taking impressions to create the veneers from. Sometimes you may get temporary veneers to wear until your permanent ones arrive. The second visit will consist of the fitting and making sure the size, shape and color are all correct and you are happy with your new veneers. The dentist will then make any shaping or trimming that is needed before the final fitting. After a thorough teeth cleaning, a composite resin is used to bond the veneers to your teeth. There is usually about a two week adjustment period before you will get completely used to wearing veneers, but you will now have the smile of your dreams! Traditional Veneers Veneers are extremely life-like, perfect looking duplicates of your original tooth, made out of a thin shell of porcelain which is bonded onto your original tooth. Often, a temporary veneer will be given to you on the first visit, to protect your teeth while you are waiting for your permanent veneers.
